The responsibilities of a man have been to
protect his family, comfort his family emotionally and as may be required at
any time, as well as, providing for his family.
These responsibilities have so far been
threatened by forces in our society. These forces include but are not limited
to:
1.Economic
downturn.
2.Large
disparity of wealth distribution.
3.Onslaught
of immorality, aided by the mass media and the unbridled pornographic promoting
websites.
4.Spiritual
forces of the darkness that quench the thirst for righteousness in men.
5.The
love of the rat-race or the participation in the race – by men.
In 2 Tim 3:1-7, the following was documented, “But know this, that in the last days
perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of
money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal,
despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather
than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And
from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into
households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away
by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of
the truth.” NKJV.
You must understand that we are definitely in
the perilous times, as different instances have shown – all over the world.
The gullible behaviour
of the world
There was a time, about 10pm when I was on my
way home. I saw a known couple with another lady accompanying them on the way,
because they live on the same street, and in the same vicinity.
I was shocked at what happened. The wife of the
man was walking in the front, carrying only the school basket of their
boy-child while the man carried the sleeping boy in his hands with the accomplice
walking beside the husband.
Unknown to them that I was coming behind – the
accomplice took one of the husband’s hand and put it on her bum, when they were
at the junction to part ways, then said, ‘Oga
Sunday’: the husband replied, “Hun?’,
with the tone of interest in what the accomplice had done.
… the woman was walking in the front until they
got to their house – carrying only the basket while the husband clutched the
boy to his chest: in the woman’s mind, she was enjoying her husband because she
had less stress to go through.
Whereas, it is written in Eph 5:25-31 that, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and
cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to
Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but
that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their
own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one
ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does
the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to
his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." NKJV
The husband must be a
person of the characters listed in Eph 5:25-31, above.
If a man therefore claims to be a Christian but
is found to live a life of opposite to his professed faith, then he is not born
again and is in need of salvation.
It is not an insult:
neither is it a fallacy!
A man that deceives his wife and children does
not like himself, as the above scripture, Eph 5:25-31, has said, ‘…So husbands ought to love their own wives
as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself’.
Without wasting time, even if you are not
married but you cannot just stick to a relationship but find pleasure running
after all women in-sight or you know that you are not a good man to be married:
let me invite you to the master of the universe – who will make a good person
out of you. His name is Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Oh God of the universe, Father of
all grace. I approach the throne of mercy today; please forgive me of all
unrighteousness.
Take my will unto yourself and give me a new
mind. Let me walk with you uprightly, all the days of life, and cause me to
find joy and unending love in you. Grant me the grace to make heaven and to win
others for you.
