When
God was creating man on earth He did not declare that the man must be the head
of the woman, but God later declared that – due to an incident.
“Then God said,
"Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the
cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the
earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created
him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to
them," Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have
dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every
living thing that moves on the earth.
“And God said,
"See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of
all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for
food.” Gen 1:26-29,

Not
long to this blessing, the Bible accounts that the serpent (which was more
cunning of the animals) enticed the woman (Eve) to eat of the fruit that God
commanded her and Adam not eat from, and then, a curse follows:
“To the woman He said:
I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall
bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule
over you." Gen
3:16, NKJV.
Gender equality is
fighting against God’s declaration – knowing the obvious but ignoring it
Let
us consider the fact that every one goes to work, works tirelessly (at least
within stipulated work-hours), earns incomes through inputs at the office, and
uses the incomes to cater for his or her needs: yet, people that are fighting
for gender equality do not think about why they need to work so hard before
money could be earned to take care of one’s basic needs.
The
answer is simple: it is the result of God’s declaration too, after Adam and Eve
fell to the devil’s deception.
“Then to Adam He
said," Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from
the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': Cursed is
the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your
life.
“Both thorns and
thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field.
In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For
out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” Gen 3:17-19, NKJV
Rather
than concur to God’s will, gender equality crusaders are going against God’s
designs. No wonder that the craze about homosexuality legalisation is
increasing by the day.
In
their minds, they will be thinking that they are challenging the status-quo,
but they are actually saying that God is irrelevant in their own affairs.
The issue of gender
equality
An early advocate for gender equality was Christine de Pizan, who in herbook, The
Book of the City of Ladies, in 1405, wrote that the oppression of women
is founded on irrational prejudice – pointing out numerous advances in society
that were probably created by women.
If we should look at this statement (closely), we
will realise that gender equality, itself, is ‘founded on irrational prejudices – occasioned by numerous advances
(towards women) in the society.
Women are designed to be attractive to men, and men
are likely wired to protect women, but due to various circumstances that had
exposed people (in all parts of the world) to different experiences – everyone
can just come up with something that he or she thinks is discovered, and which he
or she thinks is a just course to pursue.
Probably, Christine
de Pizan was a victim of man’s injustice and thought that she could fight
back by establishing gender equality (which numerous people across the globe
are now advocating for).
Gender
equality, also
known as sex equality, gender egalitarianism, sexual equality
or equality of the genders, is the view that men and women should
receive equal treatment, and should not be discriminated against based on
gender. This is the objective of the United Nations Universal Declaration of
Human Rights, which seeks to create equality in law and in social situations,
such as in democratic activities and securing equal pay for equal work.
Although, we support fair treatment for both men
and women: gender equality should not have its grip on the marriage
institution.
In the case of marriage, the man is to be the head
of the home (the home inclusive of the woman), and not that the woman should:
1.Drop the man’s surname for her own names or
exchange the man’s name for her father’s name.
2.Compete with the man in marital issues (because the
‘gender equality’ term can greatly influence women’s behaviour at home.
3.Use miss instead of Mrs. while still in her
husband’s house.
The best term would have been used and there is even room for change
As UNICEF defines it, gender equality ”means that
women and men, and girls and boys, enjoy the same rights, resources,
opportunities and protections. It does not require that girls and boys, or
women and men, be the same, or that they be treated exactly alike”.

The term itself is misleading – if we should go by
UNICEF’s definition. Therefore, we advocate that a more realistic term like
“Female Fair Treatment”, FFT, be used and popularised.
We agree that women have not been given absolute
rights (in all ramifications) as their men counterparts, but the dreams of equal
rights, aside from matrimonial leadership – while the man still lives, would
yield timely results if (only) the current term of ‘gender equality’ be
replaced with one that is more agreeable with all customs or culture of people,
all over the world.
